A new Kenny Chesney ad for Apple aired during the Country Music Awards. It’s typical biography stuff, a glimpse “behind the scenes” of Chesney’s popular “No Shoes Nation” tour. Apple shows Chesney getting ready for the show — a day-in-the-life sort of thing — and one thing becomes abundantly clear: Chesney couldn’t do it without Apple! No shoes, sure, but no Apple? No way. Chesney wears the Apple Watch for his daytime workout. He programs a “show day list” on Apple Music. Chesney, you understand by the end, has integrated Apple into his life the way Michael Jordan has integrated Nike.
The ad isn’t all image and inspiration though. The spot, which is a minute long, also delivers a plain old direct message that got a little lost after the frenzy surrounding the initial Apple Music launch. Then Apple Music was free for 3 months to anybody — and only after that extended trial period did users have to pay. The Chesney ad reminds people that Apple Music remains free for 3 months for new users to try it out.
