Two men from Sandpoint, Idaho have redefined the average drone. Their line of X PlusOne drones can fly up to 60 mph and as high as 10,000 feet. The inventor behind X PlusOne, aerospace engineer JD Claridge, says the patent-pending drone “flies like an airplane.” With his business partner Charles Manning, CEO of mobile analytics tech company Kochava, Claridge has raised a lot of money via a Kickstarter campaign but now they need more to get their drones “off the ground.” So they’re pitching the company on Shark Tank and they’re confident they will land a deal.

Prior to his appearance on Shark Tank (in front of 9 million viewers), Claridge, who currently makes the drones in the xCraft office in Sandpoint, told his local radio station KXLY.com: “Having the ability to be better known as a company is going to help with bringing on talent and hiring new people and being able to expand our products and just grow the company.” Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
