Victor Cruz is the focus of a winning biographical special on Showtime called I Am Giant: Victor Cruz. It debuts on October 30 at 9pm. Cruz’s inspirational story follows the talented Giants wide receiver as he pulled himself to the top of the football world by his bootstraps — winning a Super Bowl at the summit — and then as Cruz takes the hero’s tragic fall, a knee injury nightmare. Cruz impressed people along the way, being compared to the great Randy Moss and generating excitement for his style and grace under pressure.
Maybe the guy who appreciated Cruz most is the guy who threw him the ball. Giants quarterback Eli Manning described Cruz simply and perfectly as “a guy that has a natural feel for the game, how to get open, where defenders are, what the coverage is and what he needs to do to get open.” Manning is no doubt one of the guys rooting for Cruz as he tries to come back from the injury — a tougher task than anybody, including Cruz, thought. He hasn’t played a game since October 12, 2014. Cruz still expects to play for the Giants again.
