Kevin Love‘s dream season came to a crashing halt courtesy of Boston Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk four games into last year’s NBA playoffs. The Cavaliers — the latest incarnation of the Big Three strategy that most recently worked for the Celtics and Heat — soldiered on with two of their three. Later it was just one — LeBron James — as Kyrie Irving got knocked out of the playoffs by injury too. Love made his return this weekend in Toronto, putting on the Cavs uniform for the first time since April 26.
Love played just 13 minutes, scoring six points and grabbing four boards. The boards are great for the Cavs but here’s the thing Love no doubt loves — he got seven shots in those 13 minutes, enough to miss five in a row. The misses are unfortunate, but temporary. Love hopes the touches are good, and permanent. At that rate, Love would average about 26 shots a game.
