Hellevator premieres on GSN at 8pm and the ingenious creators of Paranormal Activity are hellbent on terrifying you in the comfort of your own home. Not since Dave Chappelle‘s Tyrone Biggums played Fear Factor for crack has a game show promised to be so horrifying. In Hellevator, “three friends ride a haunted elevator into the depths of an abandoned warehouse. One player must get out on each floor and conquer a frightening challenge in order to earn money for the team. But if they don’t make it back in time, the elevator moves on without them.”
[Who Are The Soska Sisters On ‘Hellevator’?]
If you think you know what to expect from Hellevator co-executive producer Jason Blum — the scary force behind Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Sinister and Insidious — think again: this is a man who also won an Emmy for The Normal Heart — a deeply moving drama that was terrifying in a completely different way. Not to mention his Oscar nomination for Whiplash, another film that brings the terror, though mostly without blood. The Soska Sisters will make sure this terror is more tactile, no doubt. “Keep telling yourself,” says Blum, “it’s just a game, it’s just a game, it’s just a game.”
