Wide receiver George Farmer is the 22-year-old son of George Farmer Sr., former NFL player (Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins). His father has been a steady presence in his life, and his son certainly appreciates it. George Junior says with awe: “Dad’s been at every practice for the past 14 years…every practice.” But a father’s love can’t heal a torn ACL and MCL. When that happened to George Jr. in preseason practice at USC before the 2013 season, George Jr. thought his career was over.
[Seattle Seahawks: Pete Carroll IQ Quiz]
After a long but successful recovery, George Jr. decided to enter the 2015 NFL Draft. Although he received an unusual $55k guaranteed cash payment from the Dallas Cowboys, George Jr. was waived and ended up signing with the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive back, on August 22. In Seattle, Farmer was reunited with Pete Carroll, who recruited him to USC. Farmer said “he hadn’t been approached about moving to defense until he visited Seattle after his release from Dallas.” But nine days later, on August 31, Farmer was released from the team. George Farmer, Jr is one of the league’s top undrafted players featured in the NFL Network series NFL: Undrafted. The eight-episode series premieres on September 22 (Tuesdays at 8pm). Episodes will be reshown after every Thursday Night Football postgame show. CBS is airing a sneak peek on September 16 at 10pm. His dad, no doubt, will be watching.
