Well, don’t you just hate when this happens: you use the washroom and find yourself locked in and unable to open the door because you have flippers for hands. That’s exactly what happened to Michael Shannon when he got stuck in a porta potty on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” Shannon tells Vulture. “So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the fuck is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’”
Okay, let’s clear something up: flippers? If you remember Man of Steel (and you may have tried hard to forget it; I did) Shannon plays villain General Zod, who comes to Earth and gets into a city-destroying brawl with Superman (Henry Cavill), who eventually kills him by super-snapping his neck. So if he’s dead, what’s he doing in the sequel? And why does he have flippers for hands? Shannon is briefly seen as a dead (we assume) Zod in the trailer for the new movie, and there is speculation that his corpse will be somehow reanimated, probably by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Nobody involved with the film will reveal whether zombie Zod (Zombod?) will be a seal or just a normal Krypton undead dude with flippers for hands, so the mystery continues. By the way, if he couldn’t use his fingers, how did he manage to use the facilities? *See that’s proof these guys really do have superpowers.
