US Women’s National Team soccer star Ali Krieger is getting a lot of attention for her strong play in this year’s Women’s World Cup. The fearsome fullback has helped anchor a defense in front of goalkeeper Hope Solo that has allowed exactly one goal so far — and the team meets Japan on Sunday in the final.

The sporting Krieger will be the focus of attention, but you can’t blame some fans for indulging a different kind of focus while watching Krieger. She’s one of the stars of ESPN’s latest Body Issue, which features athletes in their birthday suits showing off their good genes, powerful work ethics and tattoos. Before dissing those trying to summon their x-ray vision to peer through Krieger’s proudly worn uniform, consider that the ESPN feature on her is actually called: UNDER ALI KRIEGER’S UNIFORM. Krieger surely won’t give a moment’s thought to the fresh attention she’ll get as a result of her photo shoot — she’ll be too busy defending against Japan’s speedy forwards. But if Krieger does get self-conscious, she can always look behind her and consult with Solo: Hope posed nude and strong for ESPN back in 2011.
