Fuel Food is a health-food delivery service based in West Palm Beach, Florida. The company was founded in 1999 by Erik Leander, a former bodybuilder, professional boxer, and physical trainer. Now the company is an official partner with the Miami Heat and sponsors athletes like UFC’s Thiago “Pitbull” Alves.
Sales are up but there’s a “sick, poisonous corporate culture” according to Marcus Lemonis of The Profit. That poison might date back to investor Paul Schumak, who allegedly was involved in a Ponzi scheme in Florida. Investors in the Ponzi scheme claim that money ($779,216) from the Ponzi scheme was used to invest in Fuel Foods. Regardless of the company’s past, Lemonis sees potential for improvement particularly with Fuel Food’s shipping. The Profit airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
