Sandra Lee, Emmy-winner and domestic partner of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Lee, 48, will undergo a double mastectomy. (The governor has announced he will take personal time away from the job as he supports Lee in her recovery.)
Sandra Lee is a successful businesswoman and TV personality, starting off as the inventor of Sandra Lee Kraft Kurtains, which she retailed via QVC and infomercials in the 1990s. Lee later made the leap to TV chef, launching Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee on the Food Network in 2003. Lee extended her cooking brand into books, a magazine, and new shows. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Lee; she has weathered criticism from people like Anthony Bourdain who take TV cooking shows way too seriously.
