Sawyer Fredericks is very different than the other contestants on The Voice. He’s a homeschooled teenager who lives on a farm in upstate New York. When he wakes up, he feeds the cows and collect the eggs. During an on-camera interview, he said “it’s a great life,” but the shy 16-year-old barely cracked a smile. For someone who puts so much emotion into his music, it’s strange to hear him speak without it. His shyness might have something to do with being picked on.
Sawyer recently posted this on Facebook: “Hey everybody- I know you’re all looking out for me, but if someone starts posting hateful things, about me or my friends, I will be choosing to ignore them or block them, if necessary. I would appreciate if you do the same, and don’t attack these people. Because even though they are saying mean things, they are usually pretty vulnerable people, and you just don’t know how hard they will take it. Let it be.” Sawyer is one wise teenager. And talented, too. He made it to the live playoffs on The Voice, which airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
