A 2-year-old boy fell into the cheetah pen at Cleveland’s Metropark Zoo. The toddler fell about ten feet and suffered leg injuries. He’s in stable condition. One parent leaped in after the child, but even with the humans in the pen the cheetahs amazingly just went about their normal business, never threatening the intruders.
In an episode that brings to mind pop star Micheal Jackson dangling his infant from a balcony, a parent apparently held the child aloft over the pen before the drop. The Zoo’s executive director Dr. Christopher Kuhar told Channel 5 news in Cleveland that, “Unfortunately we have a number of eyewitness accounts that point to the strong likelihood that the child was dangled over the railing.”
