Filmmaker Tim Burton has been hired by Disney again to direct a live-action version of Dumbo. His Alice in Wonderland made more than $1 billion worldwide for the studio. Alice starred his go-to actors Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow) and now ex-partner Helena Bonham Carter. There’s no release date assigned to the project as Burton is currently working on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and he’s already committed to Beetlejuice 2.
In December, Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter announced that they split after a 13-year relationship which produced two children whom they will continue to co-parent. They are currently working together (Burton is producing) on Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, which will be released in 2016.
