On the hilarious hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) has hinted that he has “intense daddy stuff.” In classic Peralta fashion, he’s delivered this line: “Oh yeah, the guy without a daddy is the one with daddy issues. Explain that logic.” Finally, we get to meet his absentee dad, Captain Roger Peralta, an airline pilot.
Papa Peralta is played by Bradley Whitford, best known for his Emmy Award winning role as White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman on The West Wing. Whitford currently has a recurring role as Marcy, a cross-dressing businessman in the Amazon series Transparent, opposite fellow Emmy Award-winning actor Jeffrey Tambor.
