Cate Blanchett cursed on camera and ducked out of an interview in which she wasn’t being treated royally. Blanchett is a “serious actress”– and don’t you forget it. She doesn’t suffer fools gladly–and early in an interview (see below) with The Project‘s Jonathan Hyla, she seems to have pegged him for one. Hyla tried to break the ice suggesting he might have brought some beer along. “I don’t drink beer,” Blanchett said dismissively. She suggested a fancy vodka. It got more awkward for both parties from there.
Blanchett was there to talk about her new movie Cinderella. Astonishingly the actress seems to think there’s something fresh and interesting to say about it–she wanted to chat about the “chemistry” between the actors or some such. But Hyla knows it’s a celebrity game. He knows Cinderella is just a big money grab, cashing in on Disney’s princess monopoly with young girls. So he asked irreverent questions. Apparently, Blanchett walks a cat in the film.”How are you able to get that cat to do what you want it to do on a leash? I tried to put my girlfriend’s cat on a leash but it never works for me,” Hyla said. “That’s your f””ing question?” Blanchett replied, looking around for her publicist. Well, yes, Cate, it is. You wanted to talk about glass slippers?
