After starring in and producing seven successful The Good Witch TV movies, Catherine Bell (“Cassie” aka The Good Witch) is turning the movie franchise into a regular TV show on The Hallmark Channel. In the movie, Cassie’s daughter Grace was about 5. In the TV show, Good Witch, Grace is a teenager who has some of her mother’s abilities.
Grace is played by Bailee Madison. The 15-year-old has an impressive acting resume. She plays Sophia Quinn in the TV show The Fosters, was Young Snow White in Once Upon a Time, and was Maxine Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. Madison won rave reviews for her work in the feature film, Brothers, opposite Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal. In Brothers, Madison played a child haunted by demons. And she played the little girl in Guillermo del Toro’s thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark with Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce, so Madison knows a thing or two about mystery and fantasy. In comparison to Brothers and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, The Good Witch is a piece of cake for Madison. In the premiere of The Good Witch, which airs February 28, 8pm on Hallmark, Madison delivers a convincing performance.
