Twin sister singing duo Tegan and Sara will perform the Oscar-nominated song “Everything Is Awesome” from The LEGO Movie at the Academy Awards on February 22. The 34-year-old Canadians have sold nearly 1 million albums and have toured with The Killers and Neil Young. It was Neil Young’s manager, Elliot Roberts, who discovered Tegan and Sara in 1999. Roberts signed them to his Los Angeles label, Vapor Records.
At the Oscars, Tegan and Sara will perform Shawn Patterson’s “Everything Is Awesome” with the comedy group The Lonely Island. They’re the guys on Saturday Night Live who launched SNL Digital Shorts and created viral videos including “Dick in a Box.” The Lonely Island includes Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta on the hilarious Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Jorma Taccone (Booth Jonathan on Girls).
