The Disney animated feature film Big Hero 6 is nominated for an Oscar. It’s about a 14-year-old science prodigy Hiro (Ryan Potter) and a group of friends who, with an eccentric group of young inventors, fight a dangerous villain with the help of a gentle, plus-sized inflatable robot named Baymax, whose sole purpose is to take care of people.
The directors of Big Hero 6, Don Hall and Chris Williams, also worked together on The Emperor’s New Groove. It’s the first Oscar nomination for Hall. Williams was nominated for the 2008 animated film Bolt. It cost $165 million to make Big Hero 6. As of February 18, 2015, it had reportedly grossed $219 million.
