Sean Penn Outdoes Liam Neeson In ‘The Gunman’

Two-time Academy Award winning actor Sean Penn (Mystic River, Milk) plays a Special Forces operative in the upcoming film, The Gunman, based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel, The Prone Gunman (City Lights Noir). It was directed by Taken’s Pierre Morel, and it shows. Penn assassinates a political leader which triggers a humanitarian crisis. Now someone (probably his boss) is trying to kill him. Before Penn has a chance to blow the whistle, Javier Bardem (with an American accent!) kidnaps Sean Penn’s girlfriend (played by Jasmine Trinca).

Sex, violence, guns, explosions, torture, and fast cars – they’re all in there. The Gunman will be released March 20, 2015.
