CBS’s 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl visits a Harlem choir who performs a show called “Alive! 55+ and Kicking.” The mature adult voices have been singing their whole lives but as with so many who had great expectations of making it big in show biz, other things happened and life got in the way. Choir director Vy Higginsen calls the choir “a second chance to shine.” And the mission is to pass the choir traditions down to the next generation.
Higginsen says their voices and real-life stories embody the show’s motto: “The first 50 years are for learning; the second 50 are for LIVING!”
