Russell Westbrook would like you to know some things. He plays like he’s got something to prove. Kevin Durant is back, yes, but Russell Westbrook can do things even the magnificent Durant can’t do. Westbrook is the only player in the NBA who consistently elicits a chuckle when he jumps in the air. The chuckle is akin to when a great comedian starts a joke–you have no idea where it’s going to end, but you know it’ll be damn entertaining. That’s the fan’s feeling when Westbrook leaps–what’s he gonna do? Russell Westbrook is the ultimate SMDH guy. In a good way.
But there is nothing funny about the dunk below. It’s sheer aggression and force and marvelous (as in, you marvel at it) athleticism. Ouch. Awesome. Russell Westbrook may not be the best basketball player in the NBA, but he is the league’s best pure athlete. At least there’s no one purer. (Thanks for the Vine, Royce Young!)
