If you’re looking for a film that makes you relive some of your fondest childhood memories, the new 3-D computer animated Peanuts Movie might be the ticket–due out next November. (What’s a one year wait when you’re talking about recapturing your youth?!) Don’t expect any modern themes or headline drama to tarnish this perennial favorite. Why mess with a winning formula that has been so incredibly successful for the past 50-plus years? Peanuts just plain works.
What’s even better is that Craig Schulz, son of the creator Charles Schulz, is the writer. Who doesn’t remember the beloved comic strips and TV specials? The Peanuts movie will bring back all the characters you loved like Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, the Little Red-Head Girl and Snoopy. The storyline will continue to center around Charlie Brown–and his need to find acceptance within himself, to discover he’s a pretty neat little guy and lovable. Come to think of it–what could be a more modern theme than that? The timeless Peanuts isn’t being revisited for nostalgia alone. The producers are betting it will speak to kids of all ages–from 3 to 93.
