The Breeders’ Cup is the richest race in North America with a $5 million purse. The race will be broadcast live on NBC, Saturday, November 1 at 8pm. Mucho Macho Man won in 2013. Bleacher Report lists Shared Belief as the favorite this year. The 3-year-old gelding is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and partially owned by sports talk personality Jim Rome.
Hollendorfer describes Rome as a low-key partner. “Jim just texts me every once in a while,” said Hollendorfer. Low key is not something you’d say about Rome’s ESPN show, canceled in 2012. It was called Rome Is Burning.
