Music producer/DJ Diplo gave a surprising shout-out to Dancing with the Stars when Bethany Mota and Derek Hough danced to his song Revolution. (They did nail it.) Diplo tweeted the YouTube video of their performance, which Derek Hough retweeted, and then Good Morning America jumped on the train, and gave Diplo a shout out “you rock @diplo.” Who would have thought that the self-styled tough guy Diplo would be currying favor with GMA and DWTS? Not exactly his peeps right? But you do what you do when you want the money.
The shout-out to DWTS probably won’t mean Diplo, 36, will suddenly get chivalrous. Besides his music (and getting busy with Katy Perry), what Diplo’s best known for these days is bullying young women in public (Taylor Swift, Lorde). That doesn’t fly on the old school Dancing With the Stars, where the women and the men, the pros and the amateurs, are treated with respect.
