The new Tim Burton biopic, Big Eyes, starting Amy Adams, Christoph Waltz and Jason Schwartzman isn’t out in the theaters yet, but the episodic story is already tugging at big emotions. The film is also generating pre-Oscar buzz before its December 24, 2014 release. According to IMDb, the movie is a drama centered on the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for works in the 1960s.
Big Eyes’ subject Margaret Keane gave a very candid, forthright interview this week in The Guardian, where she exposed her pain and frustration hiding a painful secret and committing art fraud in the process. Keane toiled away producing painting after painting while her husband cheated repeatedly on her with other women and enjoyed the enormous fame and success at her expense.
