Jockey Rosie Napravnik just piloted Untapable to win at Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Park. Soon after, she announced her plan to retire from riding. The 26-year-old is expecting her first child with her husband/trainer Joe Sharp. She’s seven weeks pregnant.
Napravnik, the only woman to have ridden in all three Triple Crown races, is the nation’s leading female rider and currently is sixth among all jockeys in North America by earnings in 2014 with $12.07 million. She said her plan in the near future is to work in the barn with her husband, which is something she’s missed doing, “the actual hands-on horsecare rather than just hop on, hop off.”
