Director Rob Marshall brought us Chicago and Nine, and now he’s gone Into the Woods with the famous Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical. What did Marshall find in the woods as he prepared to bring the movie version of Into the Woods to theaters for Christmas? Apparently, from the look of a newly released shot of Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf, he found Tim Burton there!
Depp couldn’t look more like he was ready to hear his pal Burton say “action!” Maybe it’s because Marshall chose Colleen Atwood to design the costumes–she’s headed for Oscar territory yet againfor sure. (She’s won three times!) Oh, did we mention Atwood has worked on SEVEN films for Tim Burton, including Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood and Sweeney Todd–another Sondheim. Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are just a few of the stars set to haunt on our oldest, scariest fairy tales in what’s sure to be a Christmas spectacular.
