If you weren’t jacked up about MLB playoffs already, last night’s game should have done the trick. Trailing 7-3 in the 6th inning with a 3% chance of victory, the Royals fought back to force extras and won it in the 12th on a walk-off hit by Salvador Perez. The win boosted the Royals chances of winning the World Series from 5% to 8%, and cemented their status as America’s team for the playoffs.
The current favorites to win the World Series in order are the Dodgers 17%, Nationals 17%, Angels 15%, Tigers 14%, Orioles 9%, Cardinals 9%, Royals 8%, Giants 6%, and Pirates 5%. After 162 games, the Giants and the Pirates will square off in one last play-in “playoff” game that will send one team home. If it’s anything close to the excitement of last night’s game, it should be a good one. Every game is updated every second on Pivit.
