Actor Ed O’Neill (Modern Family, Married with Children) is helping filmmaker Eric Murphy raise money for his 90-minute documentary, Traficant: Congressman of Crimetown.” The subject is former Congressman James A. Traficant Jr. who died last month following a tractor accident on his family farm in Ohio. O’Neill is from Youngstown, Ohio, the city dubbed Crimetown, USA, thanks to the corrupt politican Traficant. The film describes Traficant as an eccentric maverick with a dark side. He became “the second Member of Congress expelled since the Civil War, eventually spending over seven years in federal prison on bribery and tax evasion charges.”
O’Neill is helping Murphy to raise funds via a Kickstarter campaign – they need $17,500 to finish production. Backers who pledge $2500 get to have lunch with O’Neill and get credit as a co-producer. No word on whether O’Neill will bring along TV wife Sofia Vergara to the lunch.
