Nineteen-year-old Kelsey Waller of Reno, Nevada and 23-year-old Peter Touros of Queens, NY are the two American winners of the Gatorade “Unreal Around the World” contest. (The other three winners are from Canada, England and Brazil). The contestants submitted show-offy videos and plainspoken essays about how hard they work each day to improve their soccer skills. The prizes are two-week tours of the world’s most iconic futbol clubs.
The winners’ journeys begin at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute in Bradenton, Florida. Then they travel on to England, Spain, Italy, Argentina and Brazil to experience the clubs of Liverpool, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Boca Juniors and the Brazilian Football Confederation. There’s really only one unlucky thing about the whole supercool enterprise: none of the winners is headed to Germany, the newly crowned World Cup champion.
