Robert Downey Jr. is the most expensive Avenger by far. Reportedly, he made in the $70-$80 million range for the first Avengers and even more on the back end of the release of Iron Man 3. Now, RDJ is signed for next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Downey is featured in an integral role, and the-yet-to-be-announced-but-still-very-likely-for-2018 Avengers 3 . But there hasn’t been any announcement about a stand-alone Iron Man 4. Did Robert Downey Jr. price himself out? Doubtful for this billion dollar franchise. But does he want to star in the next Iron Man?
Entertainment Weekly posed just that question to Downey and got an intentionally vague reply: “It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.” Well, everything has been coming up aces for Marvel so it’s a good bet an Iron Man agreement has already been forged. Expect an official announcement at Marvel’s Comic Con Panel this Saturday.
