The former female boxer Holly Holm will debut as a UFC fighter after recording a 7-0 MMA record and going 32-2-3 as a professional boxer. Like many successful boxers she owns titles from a host of acronyms as a former WBF, IBA, WBAN and WIBA champ.
A preacher’s daughter from New Mexico, the 5’8 knockout with knockout power is a coup for UFC president Dana White. Last year White took pains to publicly dis Holmes, saying her formidable accomplishments in the ring all happened against “nobody.” But White took some of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s medicine and changed his tune imagining a Holly Holmes-Ronda Rousey bout somewhere in the future. That might put the pay in pay-per-view. Retired MMA fighter Gina Carano, White promises, is next to join the UFC stable. Dana White is said to be enormously persuasive.
