Bring It On actress Gabrielle Union and 3-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade are getting married on August 30 in Miami. They sent out wedding invitations this week with a caveat: guests have been instructed to leave their phones and cameras at home. Union and Wade want to protect their privacy.
In February, during an interview with Arsenio Hall, Union said she insisted that Wade sign a prenuptial agreement. “The reality is, I’ve never seen Dwyane balance a check book, so I got to protect my stuff.” Some viewers thought it a strange comment as Wade is slated to make more than $40 million over the next two seasons. Union has a net worth $16 million. But successful actors’ careers can last a lot longer than those of athletes, so Union may end up being the breadwinner come 2018 or so, which makes her move look pretty smart. She’s currently filming Chris Rock’s forthcoming comedy film, Finally Famous.
