When the electricity went out during Hurricane Sandy, 15 inmates escaped from Newark’s privately run halfway house, Logan Hall. The back-up generators weren’t up to the task of insuring security, according to The New York Times. All but one escapee was recaptured.
Witnesses report that in numerous cases the first thing escapees went after were motivational posters on the walls. They ripped them down, stomping on phrases like “Stop Lying” and “Admit When You Are Wrong.”
