In the Empire episode ‘What We May Be’, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) scrambles to plan a fancy family dinner to impress Angelo’s (Taye Diggs) upper class socialite mother Diane (Phylicia Rashad) who already isn’t impressed with Cookie. While Cookie turns to her sister Candace (Vivica A. Fox) for help, Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) organizes an unlikely duet for Frank Gather’s daughter Freda and Shine’s protégé Nessa who sang the song Freed Freda (Need Freedom).
