In The Grinder episode “Divergence,” brothers Stew (Fred Savage) and Dean (Rob Lowe) discover that their father Dean Sr. (William Devane) is guilty. Stew wants to settle. Dean thinks they can win by using one of his old Grinder tricks. Even when busy trying to defend his father, Dean finds time to help his niece Lizzie (Hana Hayes) with her boyfriend Joel Zadak.
Joel is portrayed by Johnny Lowe, Rob Lowe’s real life son. When not on the set with his father, Johnny can be found either studying at Stanford, out with his cute blonde Stanford girlfriend Samantha Schwab, getting his appendix out, or surfing with Coldplay’s Chris Martin (see below). The Grinder airs Tuesdays at 9:30pm on FOX.
