A brush with greatness is sometimes all it takes to let a kid see the bright light of future possibilities. Getting up close and personal and seeing just what success looks like — it can make all the difference for a young person starting to dream. (Or an adult, for that matter.)

NBA superstar D’Angelo Russell, the single most dynamic player on a revivified playoff-bound Brooklyn Nets, just gave the up close and personal treatment to a young playground hoopster. It did not go well, technically speaking, for the kid — Russell crossed him up good while wearing a suit. But the Nets star gave the kid, and all the hooting and hollering kids with him, a memory to last a lifetime. Check it out.

Russell escaped from the Los Angeles after trying to break his career there with the impossible Lakers and once he landed in Brooklyn he wasted no time and no opportunity. This is a true NBA superstar and a team leader who has even told people “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
