Eco Nuts is a laundry soap product that looks like a nuts from a tree – but is actually a dried berry from a tree that grows in the Himalayas. When agitated in water, the berry releases a natural soap. The product Eco Nuts is designed to wash clothes in a washing machine and soften clothes during the rinse cycle. The founders of Eco Nuts, Mona Weiss and Scott Shields, pitched Eco Nuts as a eco-friendly and less expensive alternative to laundry detergent and fabric softener on Shark Tank in October 2012. They made sure to mention that Eco Nuts are hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and reusable up to ten loads. Weiss and Shields went into the Tank seeking a $175,000 investment in exchange for 15 percent equity but, alas, didn’t leave with a deal.

New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
