Soupergirl is a company in Washington, D.C. that makes and delivers healthy vegan soups. Flavors include Split Pea Mint, Gingered Sweet Potato, and Spicy Creamy Chickpea, among others. For the past ten years, Marilyn Polon and her stand-up comedian daughter Sara Polon have been having fun in the kitchen together. Now they’re bringing their humor and passion for healthy food on Shark Tank (October 21), where they’re pitching Soupergirl. Soupergirl has two restaurants in the D.C. area, and their soup is sold at several Whole Foods Markets and Costco stores throughout the metro D.C. area. They need an investment to take Soupergirl nationwide.
In 2013, The Washington Post reported that the Polons were being considered for their own reality TV show. They were approached by Michelle May of Womin Media, who filmed Sara in the kitchen, on deliveries, and in comedy clubs. May was using the footage to pitch a show to networks including Lifetime, TLC, and the Food Network. See clip below. New episodes of Shark Tank (Season 10) air Sundays (either at 9pm or 10pm) on ABC.
