Puppy Cake is a company that makes cake mix (and frosting) for dogs. Cake that humans eat isn’t good for canine’ digestive systems. But that doesn’t mean the pups don’t like flavors people like. Puppy Cake mix comes in a variety of flavors including Peanut Butter, Red Velvet, and Banana. The founder of Puppy Cake, Kelly Costello of Pittsburgh, PA, pitched her business on Shark Tank in February 2012. She went into the Tank seeking an investment of $50,000 in exchange for 25 percent equity. She didn’t leave with a deal but Puppy Cake is still cooking.

One year after the Shark Tank episode aired, Kelly was able to dedicate herself full-time to the business. Puppy Cake has since expanded its product line to include cookie mixes, sweet potato chips, ice cream for dogs (just add water), and jello for dogs. The launching of Puppy Scoops Ice Cream doubled the business over night.” Puppy Scoops Ice Cream flavors include peanut butter, maple bacon, vanilla, carob, candy cane, pumpkin and blueberry. In 2018, Puppy Cake won “Best in Show” at Global Pet Expo. (See links to Puppy Cake product line above — including Puppy Cake’s Puppy Scoops!) Yum!
