RokBlok is the world’s smallest, portable, wireless record player. It’s a lightweight (3.2 oz), 4×2 block made of bamboo that lays on top of an album. All you have to do is lift the lever and RokBlok will spin and play the music of a vinyl record. It can also send the music to wireless speakers or headphones via Bluetooth. The inventor behind RokBlok, Logan Riley, pitched his business (Rokblok by Pink Donut) on Shark Tank in December 2017. Riley went into the Tank seeking an investment of $300,000 in exchange for 15 percent equity. And then the unexpected happened. Robert Herjavec offered Riley $500,000 for 100 percent of the company, a six-figure job for two years and a $5 royalty for every unit sold. Yes, Riley accepted the offer!
[This SoundWagon is listed for $80 on Amazon]
As of June 27, RokBlok by Pink Donut is currently out of stock. However, customers are able to reserve the portable record player and with a 10 percent discount (originally $99; now $89). While there are other wireless products on the market that play vinyl albums, Riley filed for a patent for the Bluetooth delivery system, which is what makes RokBlok different from SoundWagon. A few days after the Shark Tank episode aired, Riley did a Reddit AMA. He said: “The biggest reason why I went with Robert so quickly is because he correctly identified my intentions with wanting to make other products and ideas and provided me a deal that allowed me to do that and still be able to work with and improve upon RokBlok.”
