One of the most memorable audition on American Idol will be performed by Sam “Samothias” Sohmer. The 20-year-old singer and keyboardist from Wheaton, Illinois says he got the music bug in high school. He quit all the sports he was playing to be in the school musical and never turned back. The young man — who’s one of nine children btw (see family photos below) — says “God is my rock” and “I’m saving myself for Zendaya.” Zendaya is the 21-year-old singer and actress known for her starring role on Disney’s K.C. Undercover and as MJ in the 2017 Marvel superhero film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
For his American Idol audition, Samothias (a nickname his father gave him) will sing Allen Stone’s song “Unaware.” American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
