TanglePets is a line of hairbrushes designed for children, especially for those who don’t like having their hair brushed! Each TanglePets brush features a plush animal — a lion, ladybug, piglet. The founder of TanglePets, a the high-energy mother of three girls named Lizzy Martin, pitched her product on Shark Tank in October. She made a deal with Lori Greiner — $75,000 in exchange for 50 percent equity of TanglePets. [Related: 27 Favorite ‘Shark Tank’ Products at Amazon]
Even before the Shark Tank episode aired, Martin did not have inventory available to sell on the TanglePets website. She asked potential customers to sign-up for an email and she would “promise to let you know when they’re back in stock and give you a 10 percent discount for being so patient.” In mid-December, Martin posted a video on Facebook (see below) to explain why TanglePets weren’t ready for Christmas. (A lot of safety precautions and quality tests need to be done before a product gets put on the shelves of Target and Walmart!) In the video, Martin assures her followers that Greiner and her people are working diligently to get TanglePets ready for retail. “No corners are being cut. Big things are coming. And when we do get them in stock, it’s going to be a game changer,” says Martin. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
