In the Madam Secretary episode “The Essentials,” while Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) tries to get an electrical grid in a Syrian refugee camp and faces a possible government shutdown, there is good news. The team celebrates the pregnancy of press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller). The father of Daisy’s baby was Joseph Garcia, the CIA operative she dated for a few weeks before he was murdered (cyanide poisoning). Daisy only knew his cover name Kevin Park. Park was portrayed by Justin Baldoni, known for his roles on Jane the Virgin and others.
Actress Patina Miller — who starred as Commander Paylor in the massive Hunger Games: Mockingjay franchise and who also won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical on Broadway (Pippin) — was really pregnant while filming this season. She and her husband of three years, venture capitalist David Mars, welcomed a baby girl named Emerson Harper in August. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 10:30pm on CBS.
