Bee Free Honee is a liquid sweetener that tastes like honey but isn’t made by bees. Instead, it’s made from organic apples in Michigan. The founders of Bee Free Honee, Melissa Elms and Katie Sanchez, pitched their sweet business on Shark Tank in 2016. They went into the Tank seeking a $100,000 investment in exchange for 10 percent equity. They left with a deal from three Sharks. Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran and guest shark Chris Sacca each put in $70,000 (for a total of $210,000) in exchange for 10 percent equity each.

Since the Shark Tank episode aired, Bee Free Honee has had a makeover (compare photo above with the newer one below). While the same four flavors are available — original apple, mint, slippery elm, and ancho chili — two have been added — red curry and flower pollen infused — and they come in a newly designed bottle with a newly branded logo that makes it clear that the product saves thousands of bees and is made from apples. Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
