On Return to Amish, Mary Schumaker tries to help Jeremiah Raber after he’s had a fight with his new wife Carmela. “I know what Jeremiah needs right now is to work, to get his mind off of things,” says Mary. “The way a lot of Amish do.” Jeremiah admits that while sweeping hay, “My mind is actually starting to relax.”

But then Abe and Rebecca show up and ask Jeremiah what he’s doing here. (Jeremiah and Carmela just moved to Florida.) Jeremiah explains that he’s trying to respect his wife’s wishes for more space. The problem is Jeremiah is “very worried that Carmela is going to take more time than what I would actually want because I’m a person who wants things done now.” Jeremiah also reports that Carmela “wants to do marriage counseling.” Mary can’t believe what she’s hearing. She suggests that Jeremiah and Carmela give her the money they’d spend on a therapist “and talk to me. That’s all you do – talk to them.” Return to Amish airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
