In the Great News episode “Carol Has a Bully,” 60-year-old intern Carol (Andrea Martin) is studying for her midterm. If she doesn’t pass, she can’t keep her internship. Meanwhile at the news studio, producer Greg (Adam Campbell) gets a visit from his estranged, wealthy grandmother who is suspiciously interested in Katie’s (Briga Heelan) hacking story.
Greg’s grandmother is portrayed by Christina Pickles, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She’s known for her roles on Friends (Ross and Monica’s mother Judy Geller), St. Elsewhere (Nurse Helen Rosenthal), and Another World (Countess Elena dePouilignac), among others. Pickles is also recognized for her roles in the films Legends of the Fall (Isabel Ludlow), The Wedding Singer (Angie Sullivan), and Romeo + Juliet (Caroline Montague). Great News airs Tuesdays at 8pm and 8:30pm on NBC.
