The Dateline NBC episode ‘The Mystery Man’ tells the story of New Jersey nurse Mischele Lewis who thought she met Mr. Right when she met William Allen Jordan. But it turned out that her fiance was a bigamist and con man who had done time for fraud. Jordan pretended to be a CIA agent and a British Defense Agency bodyguard, among other things. When Lewis discovered Jordan’s lies, she ran her own sting operation and got him to confess. Jordan was arrested and charged with theft by deception, impersonating a law enforcement officer and sex assault. (The last charge of sex assault was declined.) Jordan accepted a plea agreement and a three-year prison sentence. Lewis is working to get the New Jersey “sex assault by fraud” legislation changed.
After the Dateline episode first aired in 2015, Mischele left a comment on LoveFraud.com (which wrote extensively about Jordan), to thank those who supported her. “I am hoping new victims come forward, that he [Jordan] can be further prosecuted and of course the legislation I am working on as well.” Lewis admitted that while the majority of the feedback was positive she also “got some hate mail.” Dateline NBC airs Sundays at 7pm on NBC.
