ENERGYbits is a nutritional supplement made with just one ingredient – algae. Catherine Arnston of Boston, Massachusetts has been selling the tiny green tablets that “eliminate fatigue and hunger instantly” since 2008. ENERGYbits are promoted as an alternative to energy drinks and energy bars. Arnston pitches ENERGYbits on Shark Tank (November 18) and passes out samples. Daymond John tries it and cries, “Oh, this is nasty.” He calms down a bit to say, “It tastes like scum on the top of a lake.” It should – it’s algae!
John might not invest but ENERGYbits has dozens of endorsements from Olympic and professional athletes including Canadian pro golfer Andrew Jensen. One pouch of ENERGYbits which contains 1,000 tablets sells for $120 on Amazon. That’s about 33 adult servings of 30 tabs which should last a month. Shank Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
