In the Season 14 premiere episode of NCIS, the NCIS team investigates a fatal car explosion in Washington, D.C. The explosion is linked to an NCIS special agent who disappeared while undercover in Argentina, six months ago. Meanwhile, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) gets a visit from NCIS special agent Alex Quinn. She sarcastically congratulates Gibbs on turning down the eighth agent who she has referred for his open agent position. To find out what exactly he’s looking for, Gibbs asks Quinn to follow the team. “You never make things easy, do ya?” she asks. “What’s the fun in that?” Gibbs answers.
